Where were you when the twin towers fell?

Somethings happen in a lifetime that if your are old enough to remember, you remember where you were when you heard about it.

President Kennedy being shot.  Martin Luther King being killed.  Elvis Presley dying.  911 The Day.

So do you remember where you were when America was attacked on September 11, 2001?

What I remember about 911 and a short time after this action:

I was in the health club working out when the first announcement came out about the first plane.  Needless to say everyone's eyes were clued to one of the many televisions in the club.  I remember telling someone that this wasn't an accident.  Just a feeling but a strong one at the time.

Then I remember seeing the second plane hitting the second building.  Then the newscasters were talking about maybe it wasn't an accident.  Duh!  I remember how people were feeling and talking about the things that were happening.  People were just watching with a look of confusion on their face.  Not really understanding what was going on but realizing that there was more to it then the broadcasters were reporting.

Little did any of us know what changes that day would bring to the american pyschic.

Do you remember how right after 911 no one from the other party would talk bad about the President?  I really feel that was more from them understanding that the american public wouldn't put up with it at the time.  But never the less what ever the reason for a few short days or weeks it appeared the American people were united.

Do you remember how right after 911 that you couldn't find an American flag?  Do you remember how it seemed forever before stores were able to get flags in for the people to buy and fly?   Do you remember how much people wanted to have an American flag to fly? 

I remember buying a poster of the American flag and putting it on a piece of plywood so I could display it on the front porch.

Do you remember how after the flag shortage was taken care of, that so many flags were flying in front of so many houses?  Do you remember how many cars you saw with one or two small flags flying on them?   Did it not give you comfort to see all of those flags in front of houses and on cars?  Did it not feel like for a while that this country was united?

Do you remember seeing people jumping out of the towers before they fell to try and get away from the flames?  Do you understand how scared and afraid a person must be to jump from a height so high????

Why did the networks stop showing those images?  Those images should be shown EVERY day.  WHY???  To remind the public and the American people what we went through and what innocent people were forced to do.  Unless you lost a loved one  on this faithful day, what has happened on this date has faded from our minds.

It shouldn't fade from our mind as a people and a country.  If we saw those images everyday before the newscast, then maybe Americans would still know where the fight should be taken to.

America is the greatest country in the world.  There is a lot of wrong going on with our government and the two parties, but even with that it still is the greatest place to live and be and to have a dream.  It is important for us as Americans to come together and put the parties aside and claim our freedom from the government that would like to take it away so it would have more power.  We as Americans need to wake up and understand if we want to remain free it is up to us to beware of what is going on.

Love America and be proud of being an American.  It is time to stop being red or blue and start being Purple.
